Privacy Policy

When a user creates an account, we may collect their name, email address and account login information.

Users may also choose to save crochet-project information including project names, measurements, gauge, row progress, yarn and hook details, project notes, photographs and pattern/chart PDFs that they upload themselves.

This information is associated with the user's account so that it can be accessed again when they sign in.

Pattern PDFs, charts, photographs and other project information uploaded by a user remain their own private project files.

Uploading a file does not transfer ownership of that file to The Pattern Scribe.

Uploaded files are used only to provide the features of the user's account and are not made publicly available through the toolkit.

Pro subscription payments are processed securely by Stripe.

The Pattern Scribe does not receive or store full payment-card details. Stripe provides the information required to manage a subscription, such as payment status, subscription status and renewal information.

Users may optionally choose to receive emails from The Pattern Scribe about patterns, crochet news, app updates and special offers.

Marketing consent is optional and is not required to use the toolkit.

If consent is given, the user's email address may be added or updated in the EmailOctopus Audience list and identified with the Crochet APP tag.

Users can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email.

Personal information may be used to create and manage accounts, save projects and row progress, provide Free and Pro features, securely store user-uploaded files, manage subscriptions and payments, provide customer support, maintain security and reliability, and send marketing communications where consent has been given.

Trusted third-party services may be used for hosting, account/database services, secure file storage, payment processing through Stripe, email marketing through EmailOctopus, website/app usage analytics through Google Analytics (Google) and operation of the application.

Account and project information is generally retained while an account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service.

Certain payment, transaction or business records may be retained where required for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention or security purposes.

Users may request deletion of their personal information, subject to information that must legally be retained.

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect account information and private project files.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, and users are responsible for protecting their passwords and login details.

Users may have rights under UK data-protection law including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability.

Where processing relies on consent, consent may be withdrawn at any time.

Users may also raise concerns with the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

The toolkit may use cookies or similar browser storage necessary for functions such as signing in, account security and remembering a user's session.

Google Analytics is used to understand how visitors use the toolkit, including information such as page views, interactions, device/browser information, referral source and approximate location.

Google Analytics does not begin collecting analytics data until the visitor actively chooses Accept on the analytics consent notice.

If the visitor chooses Reject, no Google Analytics tracking starts and the toolkit continues to work normally.

The visitor's consent choice may be remembered in their browser so they are not repeatedly asked.
